Artista Visual, Designer e Fotógrafo

Nascido em 18 de março de 1981, no interior de Minas Gerais, Brasil, sou um artista visual, designer e fotógrafo cujas obras se destacam por sua profundidade estética e cultural. Minha história está profundamente entrelaçada com a rica tapeçaria de minhas origens, que remontam aos meus bisavós dinamarqueses, imigrantes que encontraram no Brasil um refúgio seguro, e aos meus avós negros e indígenas, que acrescentaram camadas de diversidade ao meu legado cultural.

Desde a infância, demonstrei um talento notável para as artes. Meu envolvimento ativo em atividades artísticas começou com os primeiros desenhos na escola primária e evoluiu para o desenvolvimento de habilidades em design gráfico em uma pequena gráfica em Minas Gerais e no Espírito Santo.

Formação e Experiência Profissional

Minha carreira profissional teve início em Belo Horizonte, onde trabalhei em diversas agências de design e comunicação. Foi nesse ambiente vibrante que comecei a explorar o universo da arte de rua (street art). Durante esse período, tive uma experiência significativa na empresa Água de Cheiro. Embora tenha iniciado meus estudos em Design na Faculdade Promove, optei por não concluir o curso, preferindo expandir meus conhecimentos de forma prática e internacional.

Em 2004, mudei-me para Portugal para aprimorar minhas habilidades em imagens e artes visuais, estudando na IADE Creative University, com um foco particular em Fotografia Comercial e de Moda. Minha sede por novas experiências me levou posteriormente a Angola, onde ocupei o cargo de Diretor de Arte e colaborei com marcas de grande renome, como Toyota, Nokia e BP. Durante minha estadia na África, conquistei vários prêmios prestigiosos, como o “Winner Creative Award” e medalhas no International Advertising Festival em Moçambique.

Entre 2008 e 2012, continuei a explorar o continente africano, desempenhando o papel de Diretor Criativo na Agência Estúdio África em Joanesburgo. Minhas viagens também me levaram à Europa Oriental, onde residi em Cracóvia por alguns meses para aprofundar meu conhecimento artístico.

Criação do “Nielsen Studio” e Projetos Internacionais

Em 2012, fundei o “Nielsen Studio” no Lx Factory em Lisboa, Portugal, um marco em minha carreira que facilitou a continuação de meu trabalho inovador em arte e design. Posteriormente, estabeleci-me em Londres, onde me envolvi em diversos projetos criativos e colaborei com a comunidade artística local.

De volta ao Brasil em 2015, após o falecimento de meu pai, lancei meu projeto mais ambicioso, “Gigantes por Natureza”, uma série de fotografias que captura a majestade dos insetos brasileiros. Esse projeto me levou a explorar profundamente a botânica e a entomologia, resultando em exposições em espaços notáveis como o Museu Natural de Coimbra, em Portugal.

Exposições e Reconhecimento

Em 2018, retornei à Europa e participei de exposições em diversas partes do mundo, incluindo a Great British Tattoo Show em Londres e o Museu Natural de Coimbra em Portugal. Meu trabalho foi apresentado em galerias tanto em Portugal quanto no Brasil. Além disso, fui convidado a compartilhar minha expertise em fotografia em eventos educacionais, como palestras na Escola Ana Letro Staacks em Minas Gerais.

Em 2020, lancei a primeira edição do meu livro "Gigantes por Natureza", consolidando minha reputação como um dos artistas contemporâneos mais inovadores em minha área.

Afirmação na Royal Entomological Society

Em 2023, fui aceito na Royal Entomological Society (RES) de Londres, uma renomada sociedade de entomologia que tem em sua história membros ilustres como Charles Darwin, Oswaldo Cruz e Carlos Nobre. Esse reconhecimento representa um marco significativo em minha carreira, validando minha dedicação ao estudo dos insetos e ao diálogo entre arte e ciência.

Retorno ao Brasil e Nova Jornada

Ainda em 2023, após o falecimento de minha mãe, que lutava contra o câncer há três anos, permaneci no Brasil até janeiro de 2024. Esse período me proporcionou uma reflexão profunda sobre minha trajetória e influenciou minha decisão de regressar a Lisboa, onde continuo a me dedicar à minha arte e a explorar novas fronteiras criativas.

Visual Artist, Designer, and Photographer

Born on March 18, 1981, in the rural heart of Minas Gerais, Brazil, I am a visual artist, designer, and photographer whose work stands out for its aesthetic depth and cultural richness. My heritage is a tapestry woven with threads from my Danish great-grandparents, who sought refuge in Brazil, and my Black and Indigenous grandparents, whose diverse backgrounds have added profound layers to my cultural legacy.

From a young age, I displayed a notable talent for the arts. My active engagement in artistic activities began with early drawings in primary school and evolved into the development of graphic design skills at a small print shop in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

Education and Professional Experience

My professional career began in Belo Horizonte, where I worked in various design and communication agencies. It was in this vibrant environment that I also started to explore the realm of street art. During this time, I had a significant stint with the company Água de Cheiro. Although I enrolled in Design at Faculdade Promove, I chose not to complete the course, preferring instead to expand my knowledge practically and internationally.

In 2004, I moved to Portugal to hone my skills in visual arts and imagery, studying at IADE Creative University with a particular focus on Commercial and Fashion Photography. My quest for new experiences then took me to Angola, where I served as an Art Director and collaborated with prestigious brands such as Toyota, Nokia, and BP. During my time in Africa, I garnered several prestigious awards, including the “Winner Creative Award” and medals at the International Advertising Festival in Mozambique.

Between 2008 and 2012, I continued to explore the African continent, serving as Creative Director at Agência Estúdio África in Johannesburg. My travels also took me to Eastern Europe, where I resided in Krakow for a few months to deepen my artistic knowledge.

Founding “Nielsen Studio” and International Projects

In 2012, I founded “Nielsen Studio” at Lx Factory in Lisbon, Portugal, marking a significant milestone in my career and enabling me to continue my innovative work in art and design. Later, I settled in London, where I engaged in various creative projects and collaborated with the local art community.

Returning to Brazil in 2015 after my father's passing, I launched my most ambitious project, "Gigantes por Natureza" (Giants by Nature), a series of photographs capturing the majesty of Brazilian insects. This project led me to delve deeply into botany and entomology, resulting in exhibitions at notable venues such as the Natural History Museum of Coimbra in Portugal.

Exhibitions and Recognition

In 2018, I returned to Europe and participated in exhibitions around the world, including the Great British Tattoo Show in London and the Natural History Museum of Coimbra. My work has been showcased in galleries across Portugal and Brazil. Additionally, I have been invited to share my expertise in photography at educational events, such as lectures at Ana Letro Staacks School in Minas Gerais.

In 2020, I published the first edition of my book "Gigantes por Natureza," solidifying my reputation as one of the most innovative contemporary artists in my field.

Lançado em 2018 no Brasil, o projeto Gigantes por Natureza registra imagens de insetos raros e exóticos,de diferentes países. Atualmente, possui mais de 250 obras em seu portfólio e diversas exposições:
