Coleta entomologica /
Entomological collection

Toda coleta é uma aventura em particular, faço a escolha do país e da região. Viajo, saio, procuro, encontro e coleto. A busca não tem hora, dia ou noite, pois tudo depende das espécies e seus hábitos. Monto um laboratório remoto e faço a seleção. Os mais exóticos são os meus preferidos, é claro!

Every collection is a unique adventure; I choose the country and the region. I travel, venture out, search, find, and collect. The search has no fixed time, day or night, as everything depends on the species and their habits. I set up a remote lab and make the selection. The most exotic ones are my favorites, of course!

Montagem entomologica /
Entomological mounting

Feita a seleção, inicio um processo entomológico raro e delicado. Faço o congelamento para eliminar as bactérias vivas, depois alojo em câmara úmida para que o inseto tenha flexibilidade. Artisticamente escolho a melhor posição para a fotografia, faço a montagem na régua de madeira e aguardo por até 2 dias para a secagem.

Once the selection is made, I begin a rare and delicate entomological process. I freeze the specimens to eliminate any live bacteria, then place them in a humid chamber so that the insects become flexible. I artistically choose the best position for photography, mount them on a wooden ruler, and wait up to 2 days for them to dry.

Estúdio de fotografia /
Photography studio

Meu estúdio é móvel e vai comigo, seja onde for a coleta. Tudo pronto, preciso apenas posicionar o inseto e acertar a luz (esse detalhe é muito importante!). Uso Hasselblad Médio formato por causa da Hasselblad’s Natural Colour Solution, que é única câmera no mundo capaz de captar a cor natural do animal. Não manipulo as imagens, pois manter a essência é fundamental.

My studio is mobile and goes with me wherever the collection takes place. Once everything is ready, I just need to position the insect and adjust the lighting (this detail is very important!). I use a Hasselblad medium format camera because of the Hasselblad’s Natural Colour Solution, which is the only camera in the world capable of capturing the animal’s natural color. I do not manipulate the images, as maintaining their essence is fundamental.

Impressão Fine Art Uma vez registrada a fotografia, passo aos testes de impressão, pois todos os detalhes importam. Uso papeis Hahnemule 100% algodão e tintas de pigmentos naturais e assino. E assim, a arte se rende à perfeição da natureza e expor essa beleza quase desconhecida é meu objetivo final.

Fine Art Printing

Once the photograph is captured, I proceed with print tests, as every detail matters. I use Hahnemühle 100% cotton papers and natural pigment inks, and I sign each piece. In this way, art yields to the perfection of nature, and showcasing this almost unknown beauty is my ultimate goal.
